If someone has done this before please help. I want to buy Bora One wheel set from Wiggle. It will cost approx. 20k as they are on special. Free delivery to SA. What will Import duties cost me.

Check with your bank what are extra charges for international online transactions. Normally it's 3-4%. Vat+ handling fee ( no import duties on wheels) comes to roughly 15.4% which you will pay to courier company for them to clear at customs. The vat is calculated on purchase price not postage just for future reference. Exchange rate is calculated on what it is on the day the goods leave country of origin. Vat is calculated on purchase price + 10%, don't worry you don't actualy pay the extra 10%, it's just what they use to calculate vat. What is charged to your credit card or Paypal account is the purchase price + transaction fees.

 

Example:

Wheels 20000

Fees 700 ( 3.5%)

Total 20700 ( charged to card)

Vat + handling 3188 ( 15.4%)

Total R23888.

 

This is a rough estimate. Some banks do not charge card fees but their interest rates initially are higher.
