SLX Crank

I want to upgrade to SLX / XT crank. I need info on 2 fronts:

 

1. What is the difference/benefit/drawbacks between the 170mm and 175mm crank arms? I am 1.69 tall.

 

2. Merlin cycles has a special on the 175mm XT M785 crank with bb for R1224 excluding postage (R430). Good deal or will I find it in SA for the same?

I will not use an SLX again, but love my XT. Probably no difference but still .....
