Hi all,

A friend and I have signed up to do the Berg and Bush - Great Trek 3days route. We are looking for any MTB trails or hill climbing and decent recommendations, that we should do, for our training?  Preferable in the Gauteng area.

I would also appreciate any tips or advise from those who have done this event?

So far we have the Breedt's Nek, for hill training. Never been.

Regards

I'd recommend Buffelsdrift MTB park East of Pretoria. The B&B Great Trek is an awesome event and relaxed, you will enjoy it.

Thaba trails Reitvlei (other side of Alberton) and Suikerbos (R550 Heidelberg)

Lots of climbing and rocky bits at Thaba. Suikerbos will get your legs in shape too...  :whistling:  :w00t:

+1 one on this, go up concrete climb a few times and you should be able to climb spionkop.

Berg and bush is a awesome joll of a ride, and the climbing isn't too hectic.

You will  remember the fun of the downs more than the pain of the ups.

And be sure to do a lot of riding in the dry dusty heat. Last year was over 40 deg on the first day!

I did most of my training before the sun rises or indoors, there was a shock to how the body reacts. I've learnt since then.
