A bit off-topic, A 1000 apologies, but noticed Cycle Lab (Fourways) don't have any Trek bicycles on display?

Hi Nathrix

Yes you would be correct, there were some higher level decisions made with regard to dealer renewals when Trek came in direct and took over from DHB Distribution.

The local Fourways dealer is The Bicycle Service Company.

I snapped my marlin 2014, Replaced no questions asked for a 2017 xcaliber which is  A WHOLE LOT better. I had to buy a new headset and new cables when I got her back. Seems pretty standard depending on what frame etc.

So should have assume this is how it was going to go, the hub never lets you down and it's Friday. Apologies I haven't been behind my keyboard to respond to every reply.

Maybe this is a bit of a whinge. But it burns having to spend 2k on something that I assume comes with the frame set if you buy it. Like it's been purposely excluded from the warranty frame set?

Originally just wanted to know if other manufactures have the same policy of excluding proprietary seat post from warrantied frames. Giant TCR would be a good example.

But since Trek want to chime in here, I'll explain the whole thing. My first email I have about this was to Trek (then Dark Horse) in Feb 2015. I bought a second hand Domane in the interim while this was being sorted out. So FINALLY when Trek agreed to the warranty in October 2017 2016. I didn't really have a need for the frame anymore. Would have been a different story if they hadn't messed me around initially.

I think I've been very patient in this whole process. No rants on the Hub, etc. And now I ask the question if it's common across other brands?

I have a 2007 Trek Madone 6.9 SSL in showroom condition if the OP wants to swop.

Will gladly include the carbon XXX seat post

I loved the old bike. Threaded bottom bracket, external headset and normal seatpost.

One of my TCR's was replaced without a seat post - only the frame fork but head set was included - it had a normal size headset, and the replaced frame the bigger Overdrive 2 bearings.

But I was able to use the old seat tube (Giant Vector post) on new frame. Although the colour was not matching at all

Best bike I ever owned.

Mine is standing now permanently on an indoor trainer - Used for Zwift.

I once build the frame as a 1 x 10 setup (only one STI / one brake / Bontrager tubbies at 5.4kg.

Think it will become a collectors item some day. :whistling:

2.5 years to process the warranty? Wow, that must be a record.

And yes it is common across other brands. Personally, I think it is crap that a person has to pay in when making a claim, but the general Hub population seems to think it is fine,

You are right, I didn't even notice that. Ok assuming he meant Oct 16, then 1.5 years to process a claim
