Does anyone know anything about the negotiations around the adding of new trails on TM and signal hill? I would like to find out if the Queen's blockhouse single track is part of the proposal.

Newlands/Kirstenbosch/Cecilia Trails

We have a plan to re-route the trail through Newlands forest and avoid having to ride along the M3.We have been speaking to the Kirstenbosch manager about it and he will negotiate with San Parks for permission to build. His team would do the actual building and TMB will fund materials. Following the TMB model,we have spoken to Omnico and they are happy to give us a Cannondale Scalpel 6 as an incentive to donate.Once we're ready to proceed, we will outline the project scope and you'll know exactly what you're going to asked to contribute towards. If any other company would like jump on board and sweeten the pot, please contact us.

Signal Hill to Rhodes Memorial

We submitted 5 proposals for new trails to San Parks. Some would be brand new trails and others are existing trails that we'd like to see legalised for cycling. No word back from San Parks yet,but we remain hopeful that our requests will be considered positively and we sit down with San Parks and discuss options.

We are currently upgrading the legal trail that runs along the firebreak above Tamboerskloof. Walter Brosius,a passionate trail builder, offered his time and sweat to start the work.He has been assisted by one helper, but recently, Room to Grow, a landscaping company owned by a TMB member, offered Walter his 10-strong team to help for a day. They have made good progress and the final result will be another awesome trail to extend the network. You'll be able to ride in at Poyser Road and exit at Quarry Hill Rd, or vice versa. There are 3 steep gulleys that need to be bypassed and one section is just about done.We will let you know when the all 3 bypasses are finished. Walter is doing this work free of charge, but he has a helper that needs to get paid. We have given him a small stipend, but we need to chip in a bit more. if you can assist, please get in touch.
