I am the owner of the stolen now recovered bike - just registered on this site :) A huge thank you to Beerboy (for posting this message of my stolen bike) and Drumstick (for confiscating my bike). You cannot imagine how relieved I am. I am aware that worse things happen than material damage. But for me, having my precious and carefully chosen bike stolen after just two days, really was a huge dip. I'm so very grateful to have such a functioning cycling community and aware fellow cyclists and store owners around us! Thank you all for your contributions to this and happy weekend ahead  :D

Excellent.

Now, you probably learned this lesson in a sobering way. Keep your bike with you at races at all times, and don't ever, ever, leave your bike on a bike rack anywhere to go shopping, or whatever, even if it is locked.

It's not necessarily a case of the crooks walking between the cyclists dressed like cyclists. It is cyclists stealing from each other. The guy in the start chute next to you may just be the guy that steals your bike.

Stone me if you want, but I reckon it is people riding bikes that are stealing bikes.

And there are people buying bargains in the classifieds knowing that it may be stolen or stripped off a stolen bike.

I fully agree, you could not have said it any better.

I have just confiscated the bike in my Cash Crusaders Belhar store when a Nigerian asylum seeker tried to sell the bike with falsified documents.  Already spoke to the owner of the bike and she is over the moon.

Hey there, I am so impressed you confiscated this bike from the thief!!! Please let me know if you come across my Scott Scale 920 black carbon hard tail mountain bike 29er, it has lime green trim, if there is anyway you can contact your other branches and ask them too, even if it has been sold I need desperately to get it back.

I hope you can help.
