Hi Guys,

Need some advise on the below two bikes please. Was originally going to purchase the nomad 60 till i saw the other one and now I am confused. Please note that the bike will be used for leisure purposes only and mostly on the road with the occasional trail ride.

Bike one is the Raleigh nomad 60 with cable disk brakes, 21 speed shimano gears and computer @R2500. Pic below:

Second bike is pictured below. All i know is that it is a 29er with disk brakes and I am hoping that with the experience, some of you may be able to identify the rest. this bike is going for R1400. Does it have front shocks?

You guys are stars !!! Will try and answer all the above questions in my reply.

Im in JHB, with a budget of +-R2600.

I do not want to be penny wise, pound foolish so will go for the nomad. On the plus, I have ridden it and it was awesome and comfortable (although i have not ridden on the expensive ones yet)

What i want from the bicycle: Leisurely rides on the road and the odd trail ride. No hectic mountain biking for now.

He's 1.7m

Is my reading skills lacking again? If so my apologies.

But also have a look at the classifieds, two Silverback's going for sub R3k and the one has hydraulic discs on.

Different thread.

And please get hydraulic disc brakes.

Frame and fork also has disc brake mounts, and chances are the V-brakes will actually work pretty good.

The fork is really decent too-MUCH better than what you'd typically get in that price range.

Those Gt frames are bombproof, and this one happens to be the right size.

You'll be getting some really solid components, and it'll be easy to upgrade to 1by in the future.
