Can anyone recommend a nice dry white?

I used to like the Durbanville Hills Sauvignon Blanc, used to be about 45 bucks a bottle so fairly moderately priced, available almost everywhere, although it may be a bit more now.

Another nice one if you can find it is the Waverly Hills Pinot Grigio super light wine for everyday summer drinking and very reasonable, probably about the same or maybe a little less than Durbanville Hills.

I agree, Fairview is very good, their Goats do Roam Rose' is also very drinkable for a hot afternoon. Also one of the more pleasant farms to visit, their little restaurant made a great cheese board, served with chunky bread, some fine Rose', hot afternoon..................! Damn.!

Boplaas Port is also excellent, I bought a few bottles with, well they didn't last long....!

I also like the Boplaas Potstill brandy, under normal circumstances I dont drink Brandy but I make an exception for the Boplaas Potstill range. Well above most standards.

When we were on our last visit behind the grape curtain, about 18 months ago, we found the restaurant at Fairview to offer some of the best value for money in a very expensive and overpriced Western Cape. Fairview has always been one of our favourites.

Off for some Jazz in Cape Town for the wife’s birthday later this month. Planning a return home via Stanford area to visit Raka. I have not been to the wine farms in that area so look forward to it. I do think Raka is fabulous value.

Not that I know much about wine, but decided to try some Merlot with the Mrs a little while ago.

A glass of Alvi's Drift doesn't go down too badly after dinner on the odd occasion.
