Southern Suburbs to Pinelands

Hi everyone, 

I'm wanting to cycle from Rondebosch to Pinelands starting next month. Just curious if there's others who do this route and how safe/good it is? I would head down Belmont road, probably along Leisbeek parkway or better the common and then obviously cross over the M5 into Pinelands. I have an old school vintage bike in good condition and will only do this for a month or two. 

Any tips and advice greatly appreciated.

No problems other than traffic especially on the bridge
