Tubeless 23mm vs 25mm

I’m in need of some assistance with regards to what size tyre I need to get.

I have a pair of tubeless compatible wheels but I’m running tubeless in the front.

Since it’s been setup properly I haven’t had any issues and now I’d like to get myself a good set of rubber.

I’m currently using a 23mm Schwalbe One Tubeless tyre and I’m looking at getting the Schwalbe One Pro tubeless tyre.

My big question is, do I stick with 23mm or do I go 25mm?

I’m not too clued up with all the technical details hence me posting here.

I’ve read 25mm tyre has better rolling resistance, but you also need to run them at lower pressures.

I’m quite a skinny guy (60kg) and I’m not sure if lower tyre pressures are going to benefit me.

All help welcome and thank you

The big question is can your frame handle 25 mm tires?  I rode 25 mm until my new frame put a stop to them.  Although the tires just fitted through the frame if I ever picked up sand on the tire in the wet i could hear the grating.

Can't say that I have felt any difference going back to 23 mm.  What I have felt is the difference between brands though.

I can confirm that my frame can handle 25mm

More *CAN* than *NEED* I think - no tubes to get snake bite flats

From a physics POV, larger volume tyres will seal punctures better - the volume of air lost to seal won't drop the retained pressure as much as with a lower volume tyre - lost volume is proportionately LESS in the 25c than in the 23c

If you're not interesting in the puncture side of tubeless, then ignore above and run 25's if you can fit them in your frame. or even 28's. You can then run lower pressure as you're not using the higher pressures to mitigate snake bites, and the lower pressure will roll better of road bumps and be more comfy doing so - regardless of weight, we all appreciate more comfort.

Also there's added aero advantages. Also, because it's the new big thing, you should buy new tyres anyway  :whistling:

However, if you ride super smooth roads then comfort is moot. Pump up to max and enjoy the added efficiency.

I run the 25mm Schwalbe One Pro tubeless and love them - I'm 80kg and run them at about 85psi.

They're comfortable and fast, feel much better than my previous Hutchinson 23mm tubeless.
