Great read

Goose bump material

Must be fantastic to be part of that kind of team effort

Agreed. I'm sure there was some post ride embellishment of the plan but I really like the "all or nothing" approach they took.

Right down to water bottles every 10 mins. "Marginal gains" has been totally perverted now of course but that is marginal gains right there...and a massive budget that allows enough staff members to make it happen.

This is a good break down of the giro of Team Sky  & how the won from Froomes coach and Dave B. Shows a lot of the attention to detail that shows the bits add up to an amazing win.

You can download the episode if you can't stream it.

EDIT: this is the interview that the above BBC article from SwissVan is based on.

Also this makes for interesting reading from inside the peloton:

Also interesting the things outside of racing that you never really hear about that effect the season, year and other teams. Like Bahrain's manoeuvre. If it was Team Sky you'd have headlines for weeks.

"Even more annoying is that the team has so much money they keep booking the hotel on top of Teide for the whole year and just cancelling a week out, so no one can plan a training camp up there. Talk about dirty plays."

My question to Dave B if he so believes in transparency then how can he support secretive and often indefensible and abusive TUE's

To be fair - only Sky's TUE use has been examined. There were many other TUEs applied for and granted - Froome had 2 in 2 years Wiggins had 3 in 3 years (if memory serves). Who used the rest and were they for actual reasons or performance enhancing reasons? The UK report suggested 90% were used as performance enhancers....

8. Number of TUEs granted annually by the UCI

Year TUEs granted 2009 239 2010 97 2011 55 2012 46 2013 31 2014 25 2015 13 2016  15  2017 20

I have just ordered Cycling News' Crescendo for R79 from Vimeo.

Their 'Holy Week' film covering Flanders and Roubaix was pretty good as well. Hopefully with the dramatic nature of the final week it should make for great viewing.
