That is awesome Fleming!

 

Well executed project using your work experience and resources. How did you work around the hub spacing change with the bracket on the inside of the stays?

 

I have been waiting for this question.

 

The drop out has a bit of a bulge where the wheel lock nut is supposed to seat. See image below from the scan:

The bracket is cut from 5mm aluminium with a pocket 2.5mm deep to go around this bulge.

This means that there is only 2.5mm of the bracket sandwiched between the wheel and the dropout. The frame easily flexes enough to allow the wheel to still fit without permanently having to bend it. There is also still enough axle in contact with the frames dropout.
