I am wanting to change my rear hub but don’t want to get caught having to change the rims or any other parts.

What do I need to look out for?

Thanks

Changing a hub is more tricky than changing a rim.  The new hub needs to have the same dimensions as the old one to be able to reuse the spokes. When you strip out the spokes you need to keep them in 4 separate groups - drive and non drive, in and out bound.  I would suggest new nipples.  If your spokes are old or suspect in any way they should be replaced because you are going to have pay for a full wheel build anyway.

I was in the same boat. I bought new hub and send it to Wayne at www.rapide.co.za. He completely build me a new rear wheel with new rim, spokes, nipples and rim tape. Cost me R1136. Now thats a bargain. Strong wheel and great workmanship. I'm a happy chappie. I'm sending my front hub in the new year so he can build me a new front wheel.
