Perfect chainline would be that your chainring is in line with the middle cog of the cassette, or slightly inboard of that.

Besides with the eye is there a way to measure it?

with a long steel ruler it's quite easy to measure

There is... but I am not sure how haha. I just know with a 2x10 crank you should offset it by 5mm to the inside to get it center.

 

I would say pretty crucial if you don't wanna fork out on a new cassette every couple of months. Had a 0mm on my bike for a while when I should have had a 3mm offset thinking 3mm can't make much of a difference. I spent alot of time in my 42t cog and chewed through chains pretty fast, and that gear slipped quite a bit. Changed to a 3mm offset chainring and the problem was solved.
