I would like to know if anyone would be interested in some light kits? I'm trying to find an overseas supplier of cree LEDs, optics and drives. Would people pay R600 - R800 rand for a package that will give them 500 + lumens of light?

It will be a complete package to assemble your own light and you will not have to do any soldering, drilling of holes ect.

Would appreciate any comments on the subject!

I am interested, I want to use it as a rear light. Any ideas on red lenses.

I am also loking at perhaps taking a truck rear light and then changing the LEDs to brighter ones. I can make ally hardware as far as housings ant brackets go. Not cheap, but bullet proof.

I am building a 29" Supercomutor and I want serious lights.

I run Lupine for the front lights.

Well i'm busy working on the contact in the states, if I get the channels going you can just get one red cree P4 or something and let it strobe, you have at least 150 lumens for a rear light, would that be enough?

will cost a few bucks but not to much. you said you can make aluminium housings... tell me more... because i'm still looking for options here. The primary idea behind this motive is not for me to make big bucks, it's to get some very good budget ligths out to my fellow MTBers.

I don't have R2000+ budget for a light and this is where this idea started and i've been doing ALOT of research the last two days.

Night Tider, the knowledge you have now after two days, compare that the knowledge Brighter-Lights(.com) has after two years of R&D. Also local PE guy, building his own lights. Just about every serious rider in PE has one of his lights. Serious, serious stuff. Commercial lights can't hold a candle, no pun intended. I got mine and friggin love it.

Azonic, with you onboard as marketing manager, Brighter-Lights now must also fall into the "commercial" category ;-)

As I said, i'm not at all trying to compete with him!!! And yes he have done a lot of research for 2 years. Because i'm looking for components my self to build a few lights I thought about the idea. And it's not for the guy who is a serious mountain biker,(don't know exactly what that is) it's for the guy who can not afford one of those lights.

They're nice!!!!!, but they are exspensive aswell!!

i'm not even going to build lights, i'm just going to try and be a "local suplier" of components that you cant get in SA easily, that's all! So I really don't know why you compare me to him at all???

Also, not everybody has the know how about electronics, and maybe don't want to have it, and would maybe, just maybe appreciate it if somebody else has a basic list of good components that they can only put together and know it will work.

Please tell me if i'm missing the point completely!!!

no offense but maybe the shoe doesn't fit you, cause you don't seem like the DIY type and you have a lot of money for expensive lights.

I think you need to relax a little? When Brighter Lights started building lights, he also knew just about jack-all, and now he's throwing terms around that gets my head spinning. So I'm trying to say its a very fulfilling hobby to get into, and very interesting. In time you'll also be pro at doing this kind of thing!

Yeah, you can't compete with him right now, and if you don't want to that's also cool.

And yeah, I am a pretty hands on person, but currently I didn't have time to get into the DIY scene so I just bought another DIY'ers completed light package.

If you got the time to read up on these things, you can get a really nice thing going.

Good luck with it :-)

PS: I don't have allot of money, getting this package meant I had to cut a few very serious corners elsewhere. Also, I take a 45 shoe incase you were wondering.

Sorry, had no intention of being rude or getting worked up, just wanted to state what i'm actually trying to do... That's all.

Would love to see one of the brighter's in action, especially the revalation 4!! Have you seen it yet?

I'm definitely interested. Don't forget about getting some funky round heat sinks, this was by far the most difficult part of making my light.

Yeah, I've seen the Revelation 4 in action. I've got the Rev 3 and that enough for me. The guy that makes Brighter Lights was at a night MTB race we had in PE last night. He had a Rev 3 AND Rev 4 on his handlebars, plus another helmet mounted light that he also makes. It was just ridiculous, seriously. The amounts of light could have started a veld fire!

Brighter Lights made me a small battery pack for short night races (no need to carry 55 hours worth of capacity with you if you are doing a 1 hour race). I rode on my Level 2 setting the whole ride and it was strong enough. Some people tried to ride with those Knog style lights (1 WEAK LED), other had no light.

I know BL spent 5 hours in the bush two nights ago between 7pm and midnight, taking comparative photos between his and a few other big players in the light game. I'll try keep you posted when I get the pics from him.

He should publish the pics on his website.

If not, as his "marketing manager" you should start a thread here on The Hub and upload it. His lights deserve a thread of their own!

night tider, I would be interested in the package for self assembly. The only thing that has put me off in the past was the housing and heatsink manufacture so this would suit me.

The Bliksem lights that was in this months Ride Mag, how does it compare to BL Revelation 3's??? Which is brighter and more cost effective?

AlsoI think My NiteRider FireStorm lights pushes out about 600 lumens(?) so if you can put a light togerter for UNDER 1k at 500 lumens it'll be awsome.Clap The 600 lumens I have is more than enough for me.Smile
