Import duties on complete bike from the UK

From my limited experience, once you have added postage and customs charges, bikes in SA are cheaper than importing one yourself.

Also bear in mind, the local Cervelo guys are under no obligation to honour any warranty on bikes you have imported yourself.

Maybe you are lucky and get an incompetent customs official who doesn't charge the full duty, maybe you are unlucky and get an incompetent Customs official that charges you too much duty. Then you have to start a rather lengthy process of objecting.

Thanks for all the replies, looks like just paying the 15% is the easiest way to go

Don't forget the VAT

May I suggest you go to the SARS website and contact them.

Website will give you all the rates.

Why you looking to import? Is the UK price that much less than picking up a R3 in S.A.? I have a R3 that I bought locally for less than R45k.

Retail on 2018 R3 is 72k in SA, by my calculations I can land a 2017 model in SA with all duties for 42k. Where and when did you get your R3?
