Enough thorns on the Tygerberg trails that you really want tubeless !! Make a note - in a few months time you want to top up the sludge/slime/STANS in the tires .... for now - get a decent set of pants - baggies or bibs or traditional ... as long as it has DECENT layering .... ... uhm, dont go buy a soft saddle after the first ride .... The TREK saddles are good enough. DECENT pants and time in the saddle solves the problem ... Please check what water bottles fit in your frame ... on my TREK it only the half size and only with a side entry cage. Seriously consider buying a Tygerberg MTB membership - http://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/ The day fees quickly add up .... and you are restricted to "that" farm only (the one where you buy the day pass). With a membership card you can ride so much further and wider ... and no issues with changed to buy the day pass. (Its February and day passes would already have cost more than our annual membership) PS - just a word of caution .... you will see LOTS of "day specials" by various shops. Take a second to Google ... most of these so called specials are ripp-offs ! Take a moment and get to know the realistic prices of quality items ....

If you're going to be riding mostly Tygerberg trails there are lots of ups and downs so you will have plenty of time to be out of the saddle. You don't need loads of padding for normal trail riding. If you're going to do a gravel road grind then that is a different story. Good bibs are expensive. Rather get a normal pair of padded shorts and where some baggies over them.
