ok, so I am new to mountain biking and want to buy one, but now with all the options available, how do I choose.

Do I go for a Scott or a Gary Fisher or a Commencal (anyone got any feedback on Commencal Meta bikes - can't find much reviews on this)

Confused!!!!

Hi Skyler, you can pm me regarding the commencal range. I have some reviews for you. Also have a look at www.mtbr.com

We have some demo bikes which you can try.

Dear Confused

Firstly I would say it depends on how much you want to spend.

...multiply this amount by 2 to find out how much you actually will spend!

my advice wozld be to find some shops that let you try them first....  Finding the right geometry for you is important.  Try to find a shop that can measure your riding  Geometry

I personally ride a steel frome from on one... really cool with a Rohloff 14 speed hub changer in the back wheel.  The best for single speed.... so awsomeNuke

anyone riden a rohloff before... the best gear changes for a mtb, but not light, german technology at it's best.  The gears are inside a closed hub lubricated with oil. No trouble with dirt in the gears anymore, just clean your chain afterwards.....
