Cotic Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 Hi guys.I currently have a 34 oval that I use on my XT crank spider and it fits on the inside.I can see that going to a 36 oval won't fit on the inside of the spider as it will make contact with the chain stay.Have any of you guys gone with a 36 oval and fitted it on the outside of the spider where the large 42/44 tooth chain ring used to fit.And if so what brand?Thank you in advance.
droo Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Your chainline will be rubbish. You'll fit a 36 round in there, but that's about it.
droo Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 As a solution though, look at the E13 TRS cassette - it's a 9-46, so assuming you're on a Shimano at the moment you'll end up with a far taller top gear than you'll manage with even a 36/11. It won't be cheap, since you'll need both the cassette and an XD driver for your wheel, but it'll work.
