9 speed crank set and 105 10 speed rear mech Help

I have plans of moving some of my components around between bikes. Before I start and throw away time that I could be riding, please advice! 

 

I have a bike with a 9 speed tiagra system, with an FSA compact crank set and another with a full 105 10 speed system

 

Will I be able to swop the  FSA compact crank set which is on a 9 speed system with the standard size 105 crank set that is from a 10 speed system? 

 

Will it work, or what can I expect to go wrong?

 

Which chains will be the best choice?

Cranks are not 9 or 10 speed :-) Edit: the 9 speed chainrings can sometimes but not always have a slight issue with a 10 speed chain, but you can measure the chainrings where the chain travels and see if they are very close to each other the use the 9 speed crank / chainrings

 

 

You can run a 10 Speed chain on 9 speed cassette but not the other way round

AA perfect. Thanks. so ill just keep the 9 speed chain with then 9 speed casette. 

 

And based on your comment I should be able to swop the cranksets without any problems?

No you will have to check the BB the crank normally goes with its OWN BB

Jip. checked that one. should not be a problem. 

 

My biggest concern was that the 10 speed chain was to thin and that it will get stuck between the 2 chain rings.

Nah it should work, you will have to adjust the Front Deraileur to get it to push the chain that 0.01 mm more accross.

I used a Truvativ 9 speed triple crank with the rest 10 speed Tigra and it was fine. Then I converted the 10 speed to an 8 speed Sora and it was still fine with the same crank.
