Sutherland mtb and trails

Hi guys

 

Does anyone have some updated info since this old 2013 Archived topic on the hub?

Options:
1. Out on Bo-Visrivier road up to top of Oubergpass (40km), then down Ouberg and circle back to bottom of Verlate Kloofpass and take the tar road back to Sutherland - all together 90 - 100 km.
2. From Sutherland (past the cemetry) up to the radar station on Swaarweerberg (west of Sutherland) 30 km out & back, 300 m climb
3. Northern side of Sutherland past the dam - rough jeep track past Silhouette farm. Meet up with the Middelpos-Sutherland road & cycle back to Sutherland 50 km 

 

Going to Sutherland on a trip from Thursday until Sunday.

I am hoping there might be a good trail to give a bash in the area.

The only other info I could find was Skurweberg MTB which I'll first have to google maps to see how far it is away from our accommodation.

I seriously doubt that there would be dedicated mtb trail in the area, not enough people or visitors to the area to support such a venture.

 

I would suggest doing a gravel ride incorporating some of the mountain passes in the area like Ouberg & Gannaga - just beware the roads around the Tankwa park was extremely rutty when we rode there end of April, not fun at all...
