Garmin Vivoactive 3 speed accuracy

Morning everyone,

So I just got a new Vivoactive 3 to replace my OG Vivoactive.

So far, it's a great watch and I love it, but the current speed and average speed is wildly inaccurate.

 

On a ride last night with almost no wind, my average speed on the watch was stated as 12.5 and current speed hovered around 13-14kmph. I thought this strange as I was on the roadie and putting in a little more effort that 14kmph

 

When I synced my device, Strava showed my average speed as 23.2 which sounds more feasible. 

Fair game, Garmin Connect should not be used for tracking anyway, but wait, after syncing, connect shows my average speed as 23.1.

 

What's going on? Is this a common issue with the new Vivoactive range? My original Vivo was quite accurate with speeds

Watch is most likely showing miles per hour. Garmin Connect then converts to km.

Already set to KM on Connect site, can't find anywhere to set on the watch itself

 

Moron edit: Pace/speed was set to miles.
