Hi guys, long time no *** praat. I need some help with our useless postal service. Ordered some parts from UK and was sent via Parcelforce with priority, 7 days, but what they neglected to tell me was that once the package reaches SA, it goes over into EMS hands. Now my parcel has been stuck on "Delivery Agent - Johannesburg - PTT" for 2 weeks. I've tried sending multiple mails to their customer service address(es) and the invoice request address. The customer contact number on their website says it's not available and the SAPO number puts you on hold for hours. I have no idea where to go from here, any advice? As an aside, the package still needs to be routed to Namibia, so it can't be out for delivery yet. URGH!

Cheap bits from China. Unfortunately the sensor seems to be broken (or a flat battery) Not surprised for 80 bucks

Erm, so so Specialized want to inspect the bike as it may be a warranty claim, however, I have to get it shipped to them at my own expense (R1500) Only if it is deemed a warranty claim will I get refunded the shipping costs. Same with the fork

Small victories. Cleaned, polished and got the rear derailleur working again (finally). Waiting on new ceramic bush jockey wheels. Frame still not done at panel beaters, but I'm not allowed to complain as it's my sister-in-laws shop

Was down 2.3kg on Firday, then a wedding happened. I think I may have eaten around 15kg on Saturday and 2kg worth of cake yesterday

Joined F45 (functional training gym type of deal) late January. I dropped 2ish kg in the first week, but we're not allowed to weigh ourselves outside of schedule checkups. I have a feeling I've dropped around another 1-2kg as my pants are falling down. Hope it goes well at the next check in!

My (very) uneducated guess is that the alu used is much thinner than previous bikes. When getting a ping, the alu slightly bends and causes the paint to chip and dent. I could be very wrong though

A few paint chips does not a bad bike make. If I ever need to submit a more serious warranty claim, I'll base my decision on that

Correct. After a bit of back and forth, the LBS said they will try swap out with a beige and orange version, but Specialized HQ denied the claim. If I wanted to pursue the matter further, I had to ship the bike (at my own cost) to them I took some black nail polish and touched up the dings and made a downtube protector. I'm also a little more careful of how I transport the bike

When you lose weight, your body cannibalizes some muscle along with fat, especially when you get around 15% BF. Less muscle, less power output. It's well known that lightweight climbers are outperformed by bulky sprinters

Coming from triple digits to sub 70 (I seem to hover at 68-69 no matter what I do) I went from back of the pack to smashing heavier riders on climbs so badly that I have enough time to recover while waiting for them to catch up. unfortunately they return the favour downhill. Fair point, but most LBSs don't take 3 hours for a wash and lube. 10 minute wash, check and lube an hour?

I find the costs with basic services absolutely absurd, often times more than a minor service on a car. Suspension service cost I can stomach purely because it takes a bit more technical know-how. A grand for a wash and lube....

Went for a 60km ride and ended up accidentally taking part in a 22km road race and coming third. I just can't get over how great this bike is at everything

There's only 1 bike shop I make use of and it's 350km away from me. In my opinion, it's very easy to run a successful LBS (financial side excluded) - Make sure your staff are technically competent, everyone, from the floor staff to the teller - Treat every customer like they are about to drop 100k, even if they are there for a gel - Don't try to upsell - Make sure your staff enjoy being at the shop - Don't be a d**s I bought one of the cheapest bikes my preferred LBS stocks and had no way to get it to me. The owner of the shop packed and arranged and paid a courier to deliver it to me all without me even asking. He phoned me 4 times since taking delivery of the bike to find out if I'm still happy with the bike, not once sounding force or trying to sell me additional crap. This all from a Spez Concept store

I love structured training for the convenience (and I can certainly feel it helps tremendously with fitness), but nothing beats tits in fresh air

No issues with Livetrack on my Huawei Mate 10 and Vivoactive 3. Been using it for a while and not a hiccup so far
