Buying used 27.5/650b

I have set a budget around 20k for a dual suspension XC/trail bicycle such as the new spark or a ST stumpy. With my budget a new bike isn't really a option and I want to maximize bang for buck.

 

There are 27.5" bikes that are much better spec'd than than the 29ers around this price point.

 

So my question is, should I avoid the 27.5"?
My concerns are that parts and possible resell will be a problem down the line.

 

I am 178cm and been riding a 26" hard tail for a few years.

nah , standards change so much that you're guranteed to lose money anyway

 

but in terms of speed and being able to keep up with your mates the 27.5 will be fine 

 

and 20k can get you A really good bike

both these are awesome bikes for the price and it will be one hellava upgrade from a 26er hardtail

I was hung up about 650b owned about 6 or 7 different 650b bikes and loved them but they just can't compare with 29er speed my last couple of bikes where 29er and I am much faster for XC I would say 29er.
