I wave. Or sometimes just say hello, perhaps people hear me, perhaps they don't.

 

Runners don't wave or greet.

Runners don't wave or greet. 

 

Runners are usually exercising at a higher level of exertion, it's considered poor etiquette to greet out loud and expect the same back among runners as the other guy might be out of breath.

 

A simple wave or nod of acknowledgement is all that is required.
