Whats the broadest tyre ZTR CREST rims can take?

Good day. Im trying to find out if my stans crest will be able to take a 2.5 tyre. Thanks so long.

Widest I have run is a 2.35 

 

Is this the Crest with 21mm or 23mm internal rim width?

They'll take them, they just won't be as laterally supported as they would be on a wider rim, and you'd be more likely to suffer from tyre roll as a result. 

 

Having said that, I ran 2.5 minions on 22mm internal rims with tubes, and I was none the wiser, back in the day.

okay then it's the newer 23mm versions. You'll be fine. Not as good as the 2.5's on a 30mm rim, but it'll work. 

 

It'll be a bit more prone to tyre roll on berms, though.

No Tubes have a concept they call " WIDERIGHT " this details why they believe certain rims should only work with dedicated tyre widths to ensure the best performance and intended ride quality.

you don't want the LIGHT BULB or BELL effect happening as you are then effectively not getting the best performance out of either the rim or the tyre.

 

Crest is rated 2.0 to 2.25. If you want to run wider, go with Arch model.

I ran 2.3's on Crests and the tyres needed to be HARD to prevent squirmy behaviour.

 

For a 2.5" tyre, run at least 25mm but preferably 30mm rims
