JHB to CT - routes?

So the seed is germinating, so I need to start thinking about a route.....

Has anyone got any advice on a route from JHB to CT, via road (although some gravel I might entertain). I'm aware of the N1 option, but am not keen.....

Any experiences would be much appreciated....

Contact the Rotary club in Richards Bay. They do a ride from Richards Bay to CT every year and then finish off with the Argus - my mom's done it a couple times. You might have to work out the start of your route yourself, but they may be able to give you tips from Bloem down....

I know that there is a crowd that ride Sun City to CT every year, culminating in the Agrus

Have an idea that they went via Kimberly down.

On Thursday, 1 March 2018, 25 cyclists will commence a grueling 1,749-kilometre ride from Sun International’s Sun City resort in South Africa’s North West Province to The Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town to raise awareness and funds for various charities.

The cyclists, part of the 16th Annual _Sun City to Table Bay Charity Cycle Tour, _will ride about 216 kilometres a day to cover the full distance to Cape Town in a week. Along the way the cyclists will stop in Klerksdorp, Bloemhof, Kimberley, De Aar, Beaufort West, Laingsburg and Worcester.

My friends and I rode unsupported to CPT a few years back

I would recommend going via Kimberly - check the attached route.

Absolutely loved it, beautiful scenery and some brutal dirt and head winds but loved every second - even get a taste of some of the Munga route,

I would head out of Jozi towards Parys/Bothaville and then get on the route.
