When changing from normal crank to compact crank do you need to change the front derailleur (i think thats how you spell it) as well?

I want to change from a 10 speed Ultegra crank to a FSA compact crank.

if you want to change it to the compact derailer that FSA make then its up to you apparently it helps prevent unneccisary chain wear but i know you can use the normal derailer and shifting wont be affected just make sure you drop the derailer to the right spot which is 2mm above the big ring when the spring is not actuated in the derailer (in other words: not being pulled)
