Lycan Lupa VX1 - Should I or Shouldn't I?

Hi Everyone!

I am brand spanking new to this forum. My story in short: I used to ride, but my finances went south and so went everything nice and shiny. I am almost back on my feet and ready to get into it again.

My daughter turns 13 this month and she is getting a bike first. My budget doesn't allow a cent more than R3500-00 and entry level bikes new are R5000-00 and up.

I've found this Lycan Lupa VX1 for R3500-00 on OLX. I am aware that Sportmans Warehouse used to sell them. I am not a fan of buying from Warehouses, but this is her first 26er. She is not going to thrash the mountains from the get go! Will this do the job for the next 2-3 years? On paper is doesn't look bad; I've posted the specs at the bottom of this post.

Should I or shouldn't I?

as a starter bike it looks OK, Hydraulic discs, try and do a Tubeless conversion on the wheels that will be a plus, only negative is 26", see if you can not find a 650b in the clasifieds, I sold my wife's Silverback slade 650B for R2500.

Looks like a decent enough bike for R3.5k. Guess after that would just need a helmet and away you go!

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely look at doing a tubeless conversion. I've had a look everywhere; nothing less than R5000-00.

Where are you based? Might have a 650B girls bike available for that price.

I'm based in George. That would be great! My number is 0662281828 if you can send me some pictures.
