stanleycolene Posted April 2, 2019 Share Hi everyone I am brand new to this site. Well, saw I had a profile, but can't remember signing up. I want to buy a folding bike, to help with getting around in Gauteng, and help in using the Gautrain and Gautrain busses. My car got stolen, and since it was such an old car, I need to supplement the insurance payout before I can get a decent car again. Plus, I want to try go without a car for as long as possible! I don't have any bike yet, not even a MTB. So this will be my first bike. I am 1.91m tall. I am prepared to spend ~R7k or so. Can someone point me in the right direction, where to buy from, what to look out for? Are single speeds folding bikes to be avoided? So, mostly to be used for city riding, getting places, in Gauteng. I'm pretty set on the idea of a folding bike. I'm such a noob otherwise, and I'd really appreciate any advice!
SRBVI Posted April 2, 2019 Share I bought one off the hub last year with the intention of doing the above. Its a Btwin tilt 7, its belt drive so no chain muck gets on your pants and has two speeds (two speed hub). Having a single speed I suppose depends on the area you will be riding I have seen a 7 speed Giant folding bike at the Rosebank Guatrain. I terms of sizing its once size fits all, just note you will need to put it in a bike bag or else you will not be able to take it on to the train. I might be willing to part with mine and the bike bag I bought.

Its really just a soft bike cover that protects the exposed parts from potentially injuring someone.
