Commute Edgemead to Parow Industrial

Hi to all the Hubbers!

I have been enjoying the quirky community for some time, but this is my first post.

I have been commuting from the 'mead to the bottom of Montague Gardens, then to Goodwood.

Our company moved premises once more and now I am at a loss - is there a safe route to cycle to Parow Industrial? I don't like sitting in traffic in a tin can, so would love to continue stretching my legs and burning up my lungs. I however don't know how safe it would be riding a CX bike down Mike Pienaar and beyond.

Any advice? Or anyone else riding this way?

Hi, my commute takes me from Brackenfell to Epping Avenue - which I do mostly in summer. I prefer crossing the railway line at Giel Basson/Jan Van Riebeeck over the Halt Rd crossing, theres just more space to observe all that needs to be observed. Klap a right into Epping Ave and beam it to the office. Halt Rd is just too tight with loads of taxis/pedestrians crowding that area.

Touch wood I havent had any issues yet, apart from exhaust fumes impacting my oxygen intake - still looking for an effective solution on that one...

Ok, I have to apologise, I had to check exactly where Parow Industria is, and I only did it after my response above.

My commute is as described above, and Im not sure I would commute to Parow Industria. I say that mainly because I spend max 2mins cycling through an apparently unsafe area. On your route I think that would be much longer, an through residential areas to boot.

I may be wrong?

Hi there. Thank you for the reply.

I have two options - I could go down Plattekloof road until you hit the circle at the bottom, then beam left and take De La Rey down to Parow or I could gun down Giel Basson. I am just not sure if there are other folks heading down to dodge town in the morning and afternoons.

I need to get to Koets street, so not too sure how safe this area is.

I'd be inclined to go with De La Rey, purely on the basis that you spend the least amount of time south of the Bellville - Cape Town railway line.

Thank you. Will try it out
