Hi Everyone,

I use my MTB for just about everything nowadays

But mostly, riding with other road bikes in group,

Most of the time I am in the bottom three rings of the cassette

Long story short,I would like to combine a MTB and road cassette to get better ratios at the bottom,

Can I take an Ultegra 6800 11/28 cassette and use the smallest three rings on a XT 8000 11/46 cassette?

Cheers

That's normal for a mtb when riding with roadies. You always going to spin out compared to the road bike gears

You don't want to be in those gears.. Get a road bike , problem solved

You can but this wont help at all.

Get bigger front rings. You can always swop them for when you hit the trails

Technically you can put those 3 sprockets on but it's really not going to help. Instead of having 15, 13 and 11 teeth you will have 13, 12, and 11 so your top speed will be the same but you will have a really big jump from the 13 to the 17 (which is the next sprocket on the XT cassette).

As popcorn suggested, get bigger rings up front instead.
