Got Atrial Fibrillation while cycling

Lately, while cycling (not all rides), my heartrate will suddenly increase and stay very high, even going very slow.  Normally my heartrate on relax ride is around 129  (max is around 167).  When this increase heartrate occurs, it goes up to 170 -190.  Not nice.  I also get a sensation of my heart fluttering in my chest. Sometimes during ride, the fluttering will stop and heartrate goes back to normal.

Decided to go to dr this week. Did and EKG test.  Test showed irregular heartbeat.  Specislist confirmed that I got

Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) and need to go for ablation of the heart (with AFib the risk of a stroke increase)

Also no cycling for the moment (sug).  Got to take it easey.

Anybody with a similiar experience?

Yep. And you feel fairly grim when it happens? My cardiologist put my onto 2 bananas a week...thats' it. Whilst resting I have arrhythmia from hell, but the more I chase my HR the more stable it becomes - until it goes through the roof. But the bananas provide sufficient potassium to ensure that this no longer happens (I think that was the reason...). Fairly scary when you glance down at your HR monitor and it is sitting at 220 and that is only because the monitor can't go any higher.

There are plenty - and a few threads as well. I have plenty of PM's on the subject from people, but unfortunately they will have to self disclose because I can't remember who has made it public and who has not.

You will feel a LOT better post ablation - just be aware that sometimes you need one or more additional ablations to correct it - just a small risk but as long as you know about it.

Yes, I am aware that I could need more than one.  If you go into a hospital there is risk.
