Hi guys

So, seeing lockup is extended, I want to do a fun build on an old steel frame.

I had thought of singlespeed, but reckon 3 speed will be more practical. So, 42 or 52 chainring? And then I have a couple of old cassettes which I can strip for sprockets and spacers, so which 3 will be useful? Could I realistically set the limit screws on the derailleur for 3 sprockets? Would like to use a downtube shifter..

Any input appreciated

If you're adding gears anyway, don't you think you might as well just keep the whole cassette's range? You could still use a downtube shifter; it'll be like the days of old...
