This oke is confused in the head: Not sure how donating towards a private event is a donation? He says in the request its expensive and is raising money for his entry fee.

Good day! I’m taking part in 2020 Absa Cape Epic and need your help to raise money for Operation Smile South Africa, who help children born with cleft palates get safe surgery, giving them a beautiful smile that will change their lives forever. In addition, due to the Cape Epic being extremely expensive, i am also raising money to take part in this prestigious event. All donations are split 50/50 between charity and event. If you can, please donate to my fundraising project on GivenGain!

Wonder what the charity has to do then when the person who donated wants a section 18a certificate for the whole amount they donated?

This dude has no idea how finance / accounting works.
