Get a claim in with the Road Accident Fund through a lawyer' date=' in a couple of years you will get some compensation.[/quote']

Have done so. Accident was in 2004. Apparently they have gotten to my file

recently...

Can we start a thread on my opinion of the RAF? (To which some of our

petrol money goes, for those of you following the thread on the petrol

price)?

Tromps' date=' face it, the reason the competent SAPS guys leave is that they are often embarrassed by their colleagues. they also get frustrted by them doing their jobs and colleagues not and yet the colleagues get the promotions. i know of a number of guys and gals who have quit SAPS for this reason. this is also why, when i do get decent service from any of them i'm quick to compliment them.[/quote']

I always find it so strange that people want to complain about things after the fact...

I don't want to get into a flame war here' date=' but it was a little difficult complaining
at the time - I was unconscious. I only woke up in intensive care.

I was informed by the SAPS that the accident had been attended to, but when I got
out of hospital two weeks later, I found nothing had actually been done. I had been
lied to by a bunch of guys I was trusting to do their job when I couldn't do it for them.

As to why the SAPS are full of people like this, I also have my theories. Maybe we
should meet over (several) drinks to share our thoughts... Wink

Clap Bit me in the bum that one.

Some drinks would be nice. Maybe a braai and I can share some very close stories of the SAPS with you.

I'm sure you have some to tell! Since you're in the Cape and I'm in Jhb,

shall I just mail you a sosatie? Chicken or beef? Beef or chicken?

LOL

Thanks for you that have offered constructive advice. For the record I have tried everything to obtain information on the "culprit" without success. The Hout Bay police have told me that I should wait as it's likely that he will claim from his insurance and would therefore have to report the accident at his local police station to get a AR number. That station then sends it back to Hout Bay, where it happened. So far no AR forthcoming and it's almost a month! By the way, what happens if he was intoxicated, wants to claim and goes to his local police station and says he lost control of his machine elsewhere .......to prevent questions being asked? Buggered!!

on our law enforcement...

three events,

hit by car, cop lost the witness list, lost my info, lost the accident report, lost the detail of the idiot that hit me, kept on getting re-assigned, after numerous follow ups, no investigation has been done...

was burgled, cops catch crooks only to steel 1/2 my stuff from the crooks (even though they wrote it up in their book)!  When I asked to take it further, I was offered a meeting at the Honeydew station.  On walking in to meeting room, 6 or 7 cops are in the room, asking what I think would happen if I took it further...

brand new car, dronkie goes thru red light, car stuffed cops don't think it is necessary to pitch up... (no accident report meant no dronkie behind bars and no excess payback)

So far, the cops owe me R70k.  Can I put that on my tax return?
