Anyone had a Hope pro4 free wheel body crack?

What would cause it to crack, possibly to much torque on tightening the lock screw when replacing cassette.

I'd go with shot bearings putting too much force through the freehub.

If it's cracked in the threaded bits I would say cross threaded cassette cap.

It could also happen if the dust/mud cap washer isn't clicked into place properly and the free hub isn't moving freely or is being torqued at an incorrect angle with too much tolerance.

Thanks... the one bearing feels a little rough when you turn it, otherwise it's still in tact.

I reassembled it and tightened up the lock screw with a amount of torque which I have always used for all bikes.

It spins and sounds as it should... just when out riding the noise comes and goes.

There is no doubt  that I will need to replace the freebody... being aluminum was wondering if it made them more vulnerable to cracking.

Also something to consider is this free body is 5 years old..
