You will need to pay VAT, no customs duties though.

surely if you buy a Specialized from a normal bike shop overseas that cannot be prevented from shipping it? Just a thought?

BTW: Does anyone know CKT frames?

You can buy anything from any retail seller in the world if they are willing to ship it... Very few manufacturers, if any, will sell direct as they have distributors in country..

Now, just to make you jealous, my father in law is chief pilot for a very serious SA businessman who has offices all over the world.. Drops the boss of in Cape Town and then parks the jet at Lanseria.... Customs dont like working in the evening at LanseriaWink

Only realised that he had already left London on Sunday for Telaviv for two weeks and then back home... No decent cycle shops in Telaviv that I could find...

But for sure next time, a really, really nice frame is coming back on that planeBig%20smile

The Specialized frames locally are not that expensive. They are one of the few companies that don't inflate their prices for the SA market. You are paying about 22K for an S-Works Tarmac SL2 and the Pro is about 13K. The Pro is a better frame than the Expert and you will be getting decent support locally.

I bought a Kona Hei Hei supreme duel frame through Chain rxn cycles in Dec 2007. There was nothing extra charged for courier costs as it was above  R3500, and my landed price incl VAT etc was still R5000 cheaper than the best deal I could get in SA for it. It took 7 days to my nearest Post office

I just received a quote from R&A Cycles. If I want the frame delivered via FedEx it will cost $300 for shipping....Ouch!!!

Who are the resellers for Specialized in Pta/Jhb? Anybody knows?
