Hi guys

Been thinking about what to do with my dads old Bridgestone MB3. It is still a very nice Cro-moly frame.

While I was overseas a "friend" of his got him a "great" deal on some RST capa forks which he put on.

When I got back a couple of years ago I decided I wanted to get into

mountain biking. Problem was the fork would bottom out riding off a

pavement, so I "upgraded" to an RST Gila Plus TNL fork. Not great but

better but also heavy.

It has also been kitted out with Deore drive-train, hubs and v-brakes (still had the original Deore DX groupset from 1993)

Been thinking about maybe turning it into a singlespeed, maybe even just getting a new fork.

Problem comes in, in that it has a 1" headtube. Is there a

possibility of pressing out the steerer tube of a newer fork and

pressing in new steerer tube?

Would have thought about turning it back into a fully rigid but he never got the original fork back when he put the Capa on.

What are your guys thoughts?

1" headtube suspension forks will be very hard to get. Pressing a 1" head tube I suppose can be done. I read somewhere that Marzocchi can do that. (no contact details) Going for the rigid fork is a good option in rstoring this bike to original and the single speed fixie is also a good idea.
