Have done a few weekends away for mtb rides and have recently taken up road riding again. Looking for some hidden gem weekend destinations near some awesome safe scenic road riding. I cannot comment on the safety of the roads, but a few years ago we took part in the rebel L'etape du Tour in the KZN Midlands (they cancelled the event, but with everything booked and paid for, we did it anyway at race-ish pace). Have a look at the attached GPX, I trust this might get your route planning juices flowing.
