mmmh everytime I did intervals on that road it was pretty busy, and of all the users there, me as a cyclist doing intervals was probably the least vulnerable, there people walking their dogs, old people walking, etc, etc. Not sure the 1 mugging reported here is enough to categorise the glen as a hotspot just yet, hopefully it doesn't become one (although I've had a couple of times some very very strong impressions on some people walking down there, thinking they looked dodgy AF and I should probably go train elsewhere, I think in early hours on week days, where it's dark and not many people are around)

whats a interval?

This is all well and good but because the road is now deserted, we’ve got muggings happening in the area.

This is the biggest misconception!!! that road is busy with walkers, runners, riders and the staff walking to work at The Lawns. I use it multiple times a week at all times of the day and have never ever NOT seen a couple of other people.

Don't desert it now.. go enjoy it. Hopefully the "security" patrol wake TF up and do a better job, I see them on that stretch sometimes, but as an entry/exit point for Lions head it should be focussed on by them.

To back this up with data...taking Strava local legend stats for a run and a ride segment on the Glen (this is conservative as it excludes walkers, ebikes and non-strava people) in the last 90 days:

Running: 2387 segment efforts by 1262 athletes

Riding: 3365 segment efforts by 1038 athletes

That's roughly 64 people per day in the last 3 months using the Glen, which I think makes it one of the busier areas?
