Hi,

I’m looking for a cadence meter, watt meter, or any other suitable device for use on a stationary bike during spinning sessions at the gym. Since it’s a gym bike, the device needs to clip onto my cycling shoe.

If there’s already a post discussing this, please send me the link. Otherwise, if anyone has any ideas or recommendations, please feel free to share below.

Thank you.

Hi. From my knowledge foot pods only work while running on a treadmill. No shoe based pod will calculate power/cadence and speed while on a gym bicycle. I might be wrong though.

which device are you going to pair it to i.e. Garmin or Polar, etc.?

If Garmin then I can't see why you cannot attached a Garmin cadence sensor to the crank just for your workout, just one elastic band is all it takes & pair it to a Garmin Unit?

Yeah those will work, which gym? I must just add that most gyms have modern spinning bikes with computer head units that register cadence & speed. Virgin Active have the Wattbikes that registers power in addition to the spinning class bikes.

i train at Virgin Active Sunningdale, they do have Watt bikes in the open area but the spinning class bikes don’t have any built in computers - the instructor uses the Phone app called Motosumo, but not sure how reliable the cadence on that is, so would rather pair an external device to the app or computer
