I have a Garmin Edge 520 bike computer. Many years old now and the battery will last around 4 hours from a full charge. Leaves me nervous when I am booked to ride Amashova 132 km race in July. Does anyone know if the battery can be replaced in this unit? I emailed Garmin but a week later, still no response.

Hi RaptyrOne.

I've just been through this with my 520. They don't repair, only offer discount on nearest model replacement.

It's cheaper (no freight or admin fees, and no long wait) to buy a new 530 currently on sale (R5k) at Cyclelab, than it is to buy one via Garmin with their discount. If you can stretch the budget, might as well go for the 540 solar on special, which is newer tech and better battery etc.

Good luck.

Cheers.

Are you saying Garmin offered you a 530, they keep your 520 and it was going to cost you more than R5K? that doesnt sound right 🤔 maybe they intended offering the 540 perhaps at that price?
