Update – Aug 23, 6:49 PM ET: We continue to apply all resources to resolve the GPS time issue for all first generation ELEMNT computers.  We have now released the fix for BOLT 1 and ROAM 1 computers via firmware update that should resolve the issue going forward* for those models.  A firmware update for original ELEMNT computers is currently in development.

The updated firmware versions for ROAM 1 and BOLT 1 are as follows:
ROAM 1 – WR24 – 17055
BOLT 1 – WB17 – 17055

To receive the fix for future rides*, please ensure that your computer is connected to a viable Wi-Fi network and complete a standard firmware update. for more detail on these processes and basic troubleshooting, please review the articles below:

* The firmware update will not change or recover any rides completed between August 17 and when it is updated. For information on recovering or changing ride dates, see Retrieve / change ride files from ELEMNT, BOLT 1, or ROAM 1 from August 2025

Hi All,

That review from DC rainmaker, it was mentioned that the Lezyne computers were affected as they share the same hardware/firmware. My lezyne enhanced super GPS computer also reverted back to 01/01/06 and I am not able to load my rides to Strava.

I am wandering if there will be a lezyne release as well?

Currently i have a Year 10 model Lezyne that is not doing much.

Are there any other users with the same issues?

It looks like the Elemnt, Bolt and Roam V1's have now had firmware updates. Happy to be riding in 2025 again 😎

Can confirm about the bolt, however mine went a bit haywire, it forgot my home wifi network and refuses to rejoin it. It also changed to indoor ride and got stuck in that mode, but seems to have gotten over that with a few restarts.

My bolt has been working until today. I’m back to 2006, anyone else?

I just checked my V1 Roam, the date is correct but it is taking longer than before this mess to link to GPS.

Did you do a factory reset as well as the update?

No I did not. When it updated I quickly tested and it was working and back to date so I just used it.

I’m sick at the moment so I’ve not been riding, but I did take the V1 Roam out with me on two drives today and both activities were recorded correctly (and very quickly flagged by Strava😁)

I did again notice that it takes VERY long for it to acquire a GPS signal though.

Was the factory reset suggested by Wahoo? Did the update and it seemed to work till yesterday. After 10 mins it still hadn’t picked up gps signal.

I’m not sure I seen Wahoo themselves say it, but there were a lot users who suggested it be done that way, so I just followed suit.

I just timed mine and it took 3 minutes.

I did not do a factory reset. My Bolt is working perfectly, my wife's too. I did however switch off my bluetooth on my phone after the firmware update for a few seconds before turning it back on again.

A new firmware update was released on 9 Sept. WR24-17068. Nothing about this issue was mentioned in the release notes, but my Roam now finds GPS in about 15 to 20 Seconds.

Hopefully that will help you as well.

I experienced a slightly different problem today.

2 mins into my ride I noticed I wasn't seeing any speed/altitude etc metrics. I stopped & thinking it needed to acquire the satellite, switched it off but it wouldn't switch back in. I tried a hard reboot, pressing all 3 buttons, it flashed on but immediately turned off.

Thinking it was a flat battery I tried charging it at home to no joy.

The aforementioned 10 sex power button press started it but there were no updates required and the support guy at Wahoo said it's likely to happen again and they'll probably cover it under warranty.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue? What i the Wahoo warranty service like? I have the V1 Element Roam which is no longer available.........

Cheers

Soooo

Some feedback from Ikhambi less than 24 hours after logging a ticket.

They are replacing my V1 at no cost with a V2 under warranty, despite it being 3 months outside the warranty.

All I can say is WOW. No discounted replacement, no quibble, just, cool, we'll send you a new one, pending a field retirement of the old one.

What great service!

I too have only had excellent service from Ikhambi. They replaced an old rflkt that failed. Ah, the RFLKT, remember them? I still have 2 of these which used to repeat ride information from your iPhone. Bought 2 Elemnt Bolt V1's to replace the RFLKT and will need to shortly look to replace the Bolts although they work perfectly.
