The cadence sensor I mount on the seat tube opposite the front derailleur' date=' this gives no problems at all as far as signal goes.

I wanted to mount the speed sensor on the rear wheel for use on the IDT, so front fork was out.

It was an interesting experience to discover that sensors that worked perfectly on an aluminium bike became very finicky on a carbon bike, even though some of them were actually closer to the wrist unit.

Now I remember why I had to increase the range of the speed sensor, I also  mounted mine on the chainstay of my IDT bike, an old scrap chromoly thing that sits on my covered patio. Works perfectly for that application, I got speed and cadence on it, works great.

Not sure how a GPS will help on an IDT???LOLLOL Maybe show you which way is up!LOL

BMC fan, make sure the cadence sensor is on the seatube, not the chainstays!  The closer it is to the head unit the better.  Also make sure the sensor is on the same side as the watch (i.e. both right or both left).

When you start a ride the light should flash, then it stops after a couple of spins.  So just flash a magnet past the sensor and if it doesn't light up then the battery is flat.  Don't change the battery yourself!  You have to send it away to Joburg to get it changes (rudiculous I know, but Hubbers rave about the 'fantastic' one week turnaround time... rubish, but Polar don't think anyone in Cape Town can change a simple battery)

BMC when I bought my Polar I was told that full carbon frames tend to block the signal from the sensor to the wrist unit. So the sensor should be mounted as close as possible, and where possible with least obstruction between the sensor and wrist unit.

I might be wrong but when you give you watch to Polar they replace more than just the battery. They also check 'other' stuff. But yes, taking it to Polar is a bit more expensive than getting a battery at PnP.

Well, I had to cut a hole in the roof and mount everything on a treadmill, but otherwise it works OKSmile.

As soon as it starts raining again, I'll have to cover the hole and use the speed/cadence sensor that came with the Garmin.Tongue
