What do you guys (or girls) think of Orbea MTB frames...

I'm currently looking at the Orbea Lanza (about R 4200) or Orbea Sport ( about R 2600).  Prices for frames only. Needs to be 20".

What is the real benefit of 7005 Al tubing over 6061 Al tubing....besides weight.

Any other hardtail frames in this price range for consideration?  Maybe cheaper or better?

Cheers

Hi Morwa

Welcome to the hub!

Orbea frames are very nice and are well priced. Besides weight the only other difference is the strength, although both of these frames are pretty strong. Iv riden a Lanza before and was impressed. Not many bikes come as just a frame so this is not a bad deel.

Hope you make the right choice

Hi Morwa

I was looking at some of the Lanza frames just yesterday at my lbs and I must say they looked absolutly stunning and very light and as Dirtbreath says good enough for Absalon.

Mens MTB at the Olympics Gold & Silver and at least another 5 guys where riding them and I counted at least Three in the Ladies MTB race.

Mens Road race = Gold

Although they say it is not about the bike some of the best riders in the world ride Orbea.

Lanza

Sport

Sorry both links take you to same page. just click on MTB frames then on XC.

Dirty Twin  TX for the links awesome.  Don't seem to get the kg's of the Sport....Lanza is 1.45kg frame only.  Where can i get the kg's?

Absalon rides an Orbea Alma (Carbon)...not Alu.  Big difference!

Also, how would an Orbea Sport compare to (my other choices):

1. Giant XTC

2. Felt Q920

3. Silverback Sierra

4. Scott Scale 60

5. Raleigh RM 5.0?

Frame only comparison please (No components!).
