  1. OK Hubbers, please assist/educate. I'm running a standard 29” Hope/Arch-EX wheelset. The Stans ZTR website give the inside diameter (I.D.) for the Arch-EX rims as 21mm (pic attached). So with all the hype surrounding wider rims, I’m thinking of upgrading the Arch-EX rims to something wider. I’ve always been a fan of Stans rims, and the new Arch MK3 rims has an I.D. of 26mm. I got the following statement from the www: “Rim width should match tyre volume. If you are running a large volume tyre, a 30mm internal rim width provides an optimal tyre profile. For lower volume trail tyres 24mm and 27mm internal rim widths provide ideal balance between tyre shape and wheel weight.” It makes sense to put a higher volume tyre on a wider rim. What is defined as a large volume tyre, or lower volume tyre? My current tyres are 2.2”, and I’ve never ran wider tyres. So, do I go for wider I.D. rims for future upgradability if I want to run wider tyres in the future? Will it work to mount a 2.2” tyres on a 30mm or 27mm I.D. rim? What rim I.D. will give the optimal tyre profile for a 2.2” tyre? Another pic added for illustration. Is wider always better?
  2. TX for the speedy replies. Highly appreciated. If it is only tool free adjustment (and additional point and contact adjustment) on the Tech 3's.....I'm going to stick with my Race Evo - E4 combo. Will still think about the braided vs plastic hoses. Do agree the braided ones does look nice!
  3. Any hubbers that can share some technical info regarding Hope brakes? What are the main differences between the Tech 3 and Race Evo master cylinders? Which are the better (stronger) option? I have a set of Hope Race Evo levers (master cylinders) linked to a set of new E4 calipers. Was on the X2 calipers for a year now....decided to upgrade the X2 to E4 calipers. Is it worth upgrading to the Tech 3 levers? Also, what is the main benefit of braided hose vs the plastic ones?
  4. Asics is also my brand of choice, and I prefer the Kayano model.
  5. @chris..... I've got the same issue. Only right knee. Got a bike fit done already (Rethul). It is an alignment issue for me....moved my cleats as well. During the fit they highlighted the fact that whilst pedaling my right knee tends to move outwards (to the right). Your knees must stay relatively close to the top tube while pedaling. Hope you come right.
  6. My order was in at 7:57 this morning......
  7. Hubbers, Any technical info on what are the main differences between the Shimano FC-M615 and FC-M625 cranksets (2x10)? I've tried the Shimano website, but differences are very vague. Cheers.
  8. Thomson.....the best thing since sliced bread....
  9. There soon going to be a lot of "old" Sparks in the classifieds.....
  10. While my order is pending..... How about a SLX 11-36 cassette?
  11. SHIMANO SLX 10 SPD SHIFTERS (SLM-670) http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-slx-10-spd-shifters-slm-670 Asseblief Oom Chris!
  12. So I need a ZS52/40 or even an EC52/40 lower headset assembly.
  13. Hi Droo, The bike is a 2016 Titan 650B Cruz. The bike came with a straight steerer fork (Suntour coil). There was a cup in the headtube (lower) that reduced the 52mm inside diameter of the headtube to accommodate the straight steerer. I need a cup to press into the headtube (lower end) to accomodate the bearings. It's not an integrated system. Attached is a pic of the headtube.
  14. Hubbers anybody that can assist me, or point me in the right direction? I'm looking for a bottom headset assembly/cup for a tapered headtube for a tapered fork steerer. The cup is semi-integrated (the cup press into the headtube, and house the bottom bearing). The internal size of the bottom part of the tapered headtube is 52mm. All the headsets that I can source have an bottom cup that fit a tapered headtube of 56mm. I cant press a 56mm cup into a 52mm headtube. Willing to buy a complete headset or just the bottom cup/bearing/crown race assembly. Your assistance would be appreciated.
  15. "........New agents arent the best." You should have said..... New agents are useless.....and non-existent. Send an email to "these" agents about a product from one of their other product ranges..... One week later.....still no response. So....maybe CRC is the last resort..... Apologies for the high-jack!
  16. Stupid question maybe, but can I have a quick indication if I'm correct. Is there a difference between a 2x and 3x FD? Can I use a 3x FD on a 2x setup. Isn't the range/amount of movement just bigger/larger on a 3x FD? But 2x FD has a shorter range of movement. So I can use a 3x FD on a 2x crank, but not a 2x FD on a 3x crank? Or, am I missing something?
  17. That's exactly why I will keep on supporting CWC! Go Chris Go! I don't care about grey/gray......but I do care about the cash in the pocket. It's time we list these shops.....like CWC. Let's support them.
  18. @raptor-22, thanks for the clarification. That is the problem with sole distributors in a country. I can "boycott" my LBS for not buying Shimano parts or a Fox fork from them, but in the end the LBS is going down..... Distributors (Cool Heat and Omnico) set "recommended" retail prices for an item. And, if the LBS sells for less than the recommended retail price, they could risk losing "dealership" from the distributor, or the distributor could "cut" them off. So it's the ARROGANT distributors (Cool Heat and Omnico) that are the culprits here, and like Raptor pointed out...."arrogant enough to force the issue to trial as they sough to justify their behavior, I.e. Neither admitted to cartel behavior or really bothered to co-operate. Hence the lengthy process and fines" The only thing we can hope for is that the international companies (Shimano, Cannondale, GT, Fox, etc) cancel their distribution rights to Omnico and Cool Heat, based on this. But, I doubt it will happen.
  19. OK.....my 5 cents.... "Both Omnico and Coolheat had attended the September meeting and agreement was reached to increase the mark-up on wholesale prices for bicycles and cycling accessories in co-ordination. Motaung said the Tribunal could not find any mitigating factors for Coolheat as it elected not to give evidence at the Tribunal. It however‚ found some mitigating factors for Omnico. The Tribunal let 17 companies off the hook after they admitted they contravened Section 4(1)(b) of the Competition Act. In addition‚ “the Commission had withdrawn its case against one of the companies‚ Fritz Pienaar Cycles‚ because the business was liquidated‚” said Motaung." Lets name and shame the companies.... 1. Omnico (Fox, Cannondale, GT, etc.) 2. CoolHeat (Shimano, etc.) 3. ? The other 17? Even if I have to pay the import duties and taxes from CRC, eventually the local companies will feel it.
  20. Great Race..... Can't wait!
