I also like to move my hand closer to the center of the bars when climbing non technical climbs.

Mampara, the problem is I am just starting out. The bike has a flat bar and it feels just a tad to far in reach for me on climbs as my back hurts like hell. So need to get comfy on the bike before I do to much.

When I bought the bike Mr Crow advised me to change one thing at a time and see how it goes. So for the moment I am either going to move the bar up one spacer - or get a riser bar. BUT before I do this I want to try one or two climbs without using the bar ends. (yes I know apparently bar ends and riser bars dont mix).

that's gotta be the dumbest thing ever. they do go. it's function over form. i mean, bb, specialized bikes are amongst the ugliest on the market, but they go alright.

Slowbee. maybe try a shorter stem. A too short stem will not do as much damage as a too long one. Just borrow a cheapie from your LBS to try out.

Slobee, you said that the reach is too long and hurts your back, then yes, shorter stem should be first. You can even flip it up to lift the bars aswell.

How much does an FSA 90mm stem cost ??

Is there one second hand - or maybe swop for a 100mm one?
