HDPVR  not worth it, now after the Olympics there is only one channel in HD with repeats every day...

I don't pay tv licence fees, because they use my tax money to subsidise SABC, so why pay twice?

As an added just becuase you are so self centered to not take your families wants and needs into consideration don't expect the same from me. Unlike you those things happen to be important to me.

I stand to correction, but in Australia, they either pay TV license but they do not have interruptions (adverts), or the don't pay but have adverts. Just not sure which way roundConfused. Here, they make money from both.

If you can't see the difference between HD and normal, have you system/installation checked. I saw HD in the Multichoice buildings, and I felt like I could "touch" what was on TV. It really is something else. Do I need it... no, I don't even have DSTV. I will be following in Muxman's shoes soon (for the family), my kids are now asking for it as their friends at school talk about programs and my laaitie is lostLOL. I just find it hard to pay R450 odd, and from what I hear, there are plenty repeats.

I see it took you 3 days to think of this comeback. Well done Forest. Now let's see if you can string more than three words together within the next 2 days.

Mampara, when can we come watch your ART movies? Tongue

For those who want but are worried about the price, the pricing strategy takes two things into account. First, Multichoice marketers know their strategy- they know that there are what they call the market leaders. These are the okes who want to be seen to be the first to have the new goodies to show off, and generally can afford to pay. They basically represent the first wave, and is a virtually guaranteed way of speeding up their break even point for the marketing costs incurred in launching the product.

Then, the second wave comes, which is just beofre Christmas 2008, when the bonuses get paid and the kids are whinging and you (dad) pays up.

Then there's the 3rd wave, sometime in the 3rd or 4th month of 2009, when you've got your salary increase for 2009, and you've managed to get most of your expenses under control (school fees, uniforms, sports kit, Argus is over, etc), and then you finally give in to the pressure and buy.

Then there's the 4th stage, in which sales threaten to go quiet, and you start getting some specials to catch some of the ditherers in the net.

Then there's the 5th stage, in Christmas 2009, when you will get more special deals to try to get your ront into their bank account.

Otherwise, me, I can't understand why anyone wants to get something that will more effectively stifle any comm's between family members than it already is. I spend half my time channel surfing before finding something that is worth half and hour or more of my time at night- hence my hubbing.

...... or maybe there are some people out there who can afford it and want it for the enjoyment of the vastly improved quality.

On Supercycling last night there was an MTB race which mentioned that one of the participants was the marketing manager of MNet. Remember the issue of Mr Price's sponsorship of cycling a couple of weeks ago? Their marketing manager explained on the Hub Mr Price's position very clearly. Can any of the Hubbers contact the DSTV guys for their response in the same way?

Ok sorry to spoil the fun, but please go to Channel 391 on dstv, it gives you the full detail about xtraview. I wanted to get it but then read all the info which subtly puts it that you need this AND that AND this AND that so i decided to leave it. It explains the whole 1110 and HD thing etc. There I have to come up for DSTV - just a little.

Okay I'm out of here -  I know I'm gonna be cursed Wink

You might be right. I'm getting a bit tired of the moaning. It's unfortunate that there are a few people that can't accept a difference in opinion. I enjoy HD and am happy to pay for it, you obviously don't and aren't prepared to pay for it.

OK, I'll leave you lot to your precious Multichoice bashing since there isn't any room for individuality.

Reniersteffen, I'm a cyclist also and I enjoy the more intellectual threads, so if you don't mind, I'll move onto another thread, if that suits you, rather than watch TV.
