the official line was that his comments about lance, landis and doping negatively affected sales of his bikes, which had been flagging for years anyone in a market that was, like, "greg who?". they denied the lance factor, but everyone knew there was influence.

That's right Willehond, Trek dumped Lemond because he was very vocal about drugs and Armstrong but the bikes are very good, just put new stickers and paint on them and watch the dollars roll in next year!

Whether the cycling fans/media are brainwashed or not, pro cycling is seen as riddled with dopers and the cyclists only have themselves to blame for that.

I agree with PPWTF. In the latest olympic games, records tumbled, Michael Phelps did the unthinkable or unbelievable yet no shouts of he must be doping.

 

Unfortunately our sport has a reputation and everytime the officials say they're cleaning it up, someone gets caught.

 

Get rid of those elements I say but make sure that the testing is 100% (not some french lab with an axe to grind)

hell is it possible that that can be turned into a negative message!

 

The 'riddled with dopers' view is driven by Big Dick and his buddies, wanting to act big in the media, picking on a minority sport with a media profile...! I've said it here before;

 

 - Why does know body sound of about Power Lifting - the biggest busts for doping at any Olympics.

 

 - Why no sound off at Nordic skiing / Biathlon, the biggest dopers at winter Olympics.....

 

Ah, that's right, they have absolutely no media profile what so ever..... So instead it's cycling which gets dragged backwards through the gutter and gang F**ked by a bunch of bureaucrats with no stomach for a real fight against sports doping, because we all know the oh so gold plated premium Olympic sport of track and feild has no such problem!!!!!!!!

 

Cycling is the smoke screen behind which this useless rabble are hiding, and our sport is being totally tarnished by people who have no direct involvement in, or love of it - all in name of maintaining there own lofty positions, pay cheques and power base.

 

- Italian League football totally buried there 90's doping programmes, funny, that never made people think the sport was riddled

 

Reason why it never made the light of day / got properly investigated - to many lofty connections and to much money to lose

 

So I come back to my original point - No sport does more than cycling in the fight against doping - how the hell is it possible that that can be turned into a negative message! (unless it serves a specific groups agenda)
